Distribution Line Worker

Charles Mix Electric, headquartered in Lake Andes, SD is seeking a skilled, highly motivated individual to work as a permanent Distribution Line Worker to install, repair and maintain overhead and underground electrical power lines and auxiliary equipment. Position will be located at the Lake Andes facilities.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Installation and maintenance of overhead and underground distribution lines and associated equipment.
  • Occasional interaction with members as a customer service and public relations representative.
  • Various duties related to inventory, load management, and metering installations.

Other responsibilities of the role include:

Primary responsibilities are in distribution maintenance and construction, but may include:

  • Operation of line equipment, cables, winches, derricks and all types of safety equipment.
  • Retirement of distribution line and salvage of usable material.
  • Use of hot line sticks, and knowledge of safe working clearances from energized lines.
  • Knowledge of safe work practices, pole-top rescue, CPR, AED operation, and first aid.
  • Participation in daily job briefing and record maintenance. 
  • Maintain a positive and helpful work disposition.  
  • Being a public advocate for the Cooperative business model.

Position Requirements:

  • Climbing equipment and a respectable ability to climb poles.
  • Commercial Driver's License
  • On-call rotation to respond to after hours customer inquiries.
